AAOMPT-sSIG LEADERSHIP POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
Executive Committee: (12 month term)
President:
- Supervisory role to ensure the promotion and action of the sSIG mission.
- Conduct all meetings of the AAOMPT-sSIG Leadership Committee.
- Prepare agendas for all meetings.
- Report at least biannually to the sSIG membership.
- Serve as the chief liaison between the AAOMPT Executive committee and the
AAOMPT-sSIG student body via the AAOMPT student liaison.
Vice-President:
- Assist the President in all duties and assume those duties in the President’s absence.
- Assume responsibility for maintaining internal relation among members of the sSIG.
- Serve as the liaison between the Leadership committee and all subchapters.
Treasurer:
- Responsible for managing the funds allocatedto the sSIG by the AAOMPT and any funds collected through fund-raising events.
- Responsible for accessing funds in accordance to the decisions made by the Leadership Committee.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of financial transactions and make these available to the sSIG or AAOMPT upon request.
- Be a source for understanding the financial systems within the AAOMPT-sSIG in regards to purchase orders, check requests, deposits, etc.
- Assume duties of Secretary in the Secretary’s temporary absence.
Secretary:
- Responsible for taking, recording, and distributing minutes from each leadership meeting to members of AAOMPT-sSIG within 10 days of the meeting.
- Compile and distribute agendas for AAOMPT-sSIG meetings.
- Conduct the election of sSIG officers.
- Act as the internal auditor of the financial transactions of the sSIG.
- Review financial records at least on an annual basis.
Member at Large:
- Responsible for representing student members of the AAOMPT organization within the Leadership Committee.
- Seek out the student members to gain insights into their professional needs as AAOMPT students.
- Communicate any and all requests from the AAOMPT student member base to the Leadership Committee for either approval and planning or abolishment.
Maintain an open line of communication with the student member base regarding the status of ongoing and upcoming programs and events. - Create sSIG newsletter quarterly.
Sub Committees: (1 yr term)
APTA Liaison Committee Chair:
- This committee serves as the pathway from the AAOMPT-sSIG to the APTA.
- Responsible for organizing sSIG events at the APTA Combined Sections Meeting (CSM).
- Required that the committee chair attends the CSM during the year of his/her service.
Conclave Committee Chair:
- This committee serves to promote AAOMPT membership at the annual APTA Student Conclave.
- Responsible for planning events that encourage active AAOMPT-sSIG representation at this conference, such as meet and greets and/or manual therapy breakout sessions.
- Ensure there is student representation at the AAOMPT membership booth.
- It is required that the committee chair attends the APTA Student Conclave during the year of his/her service.
Membership Committee Chair:
- This committee serves to build AAOMPT-sSIG membership as well as AAOMPT membership.
- Monitor & update membership data, participate in marketing efforts and work with other committees to improve the quality of membership.
Conference Committee Chair:
- Chief coordinator of AAOMPT-sSIG events at the AAOMPT National Conference.
- It is required that the committee chair attends the AAOMPT National Conference during the year of his/her service.
Social Committee Chair:
- Organize and execute student social networking events at national conferences.
- Planning and implementation of social events is done in conjunction with the APTA Liaison, Conclave and Conference Committee chairs.
Employment Committee Chair:
- This committee serves to foster relationships between students and manual therapists for purposes of guiding career progression.
- Supply information concerning educational organizations in manual therapy.
Fundraising Committee Chair:
- This committee serves to coordinate and follow through with raising funds for AAOMPT-sSIG.
- Organize fundraising events at the AAOMPT national conference, APTA Combined Sections Meeting and the APTA Student Conclave.
Web Administration:
- This committee serves to maintain, add to, and create web outlets to carry information from AAOMPT and AAOMPT-sSIG to the public.
- Maintenance of all AAOMPT-sSIG sites include: Facebook, BlogSpot, and the AAOMPT-sSIG main page.
- General duties of maintenance require addition of AAOMPT-sSIG information from other members and posting relevant material from outside sources pertaining to physical therapy and/or manual physical therapy.
State Representative:
- Serve as liaison for all SOMPTA groups within that region to the leadership committee
